Reidar Bertelsen

Emeritus Professor of Historical Archaeology

Reidar Bertelsen is Emeritus Professor of Historical Archaeology at the University of Tromsø. He taught historical archaeology at the University of Tromsø from 1975 until 2014, as a full professor from 1991. Main research interests include: maritime settlement systems, economical and cultural networks, urbanization, methodology (including digital methods) and cultural heritage management. He has served as Head of Department, Dean of the Faculty for Social Science and Humanities, and as a member of the board of the university. He is currently a member of the advisory committee for the Polish Institute of Advanced Studies. He also served as chairman of the board of Museum Nord (2005-2013).

Professor Bertelsen has worked on the Vágar case study of the CINE project.
